Cucumber Melon Margarita
The most refreshing sip of summer. Not just a margarita — a cocktail that turns an ordinary evening into a real flavour adventure. Cantaloupe whispers sweetness, cucumber adds a crisp freshness, and Max Hot Honey takes it all from “not bad” to “wow!”. The secret is a spicy-honey simple syrup infused with honeydew melon: it makes the flavour deep, fragrant and summer-juicy. Combined with reposado tequila, lime and Grand Marnier, it becomes a balanced cocktail — fresh, gently spicy and very easy to drink.
Preparation
- 1
The magic syrup. Combine the spicy honey and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil and let it cool to room temperature. Dice the melon, cover it with the syrup in a jar and let it infuse for up to 4 hours. Strain.
- 2
Cocktail alchemy. Peel and slice half a cucumber and muddle it lightly in a shaker. Add the tequila, syrup, Grand Marnier and fresh lime juice. Shake for about 30 seconds.
- 3
The finish. Fill two glasses with fresh ice and strain in the drink. Garnish with cucumber slices and a lime wedge.
Chef's tips
- —The longer the syrup infuses, the more intense the flavour.
- —Want more heat? Add a little more spicy honey.
- —Try other melons — cantaloupe or watermelon give a completely different flavour palette.
- —Serve with spicy fish tacos, grilled shrimp with spicy honey, or a feta, spicy honey and watermelon salad.
