Hot Honey Old Fashioned Cocktail

Hot Honey Old Fashioned Cocktail

Time: 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 6 servings

All the mood of a classic Old Fashioned — but in an alcohol-free version with a warm honey character. The drink combines citrus aroma, a light bitterness, the rich sweetness of cherry and a soft spicy finish from the hot honey syrup. It looks like a stylish evening cocktail while staying light, safe and full of atmosphere. The perfect choice when you want something grown-up in appearance but without the alcohol.

Preparation

  1. 1

Build the base. Add the spicy honey syrup to a mixing glass. Add the non-alcoholic bitters or a few drops of orange zest oil and stir.

  2. 2

Add depth. Pour in the strongly brewed, chilled black tea or the non-alcoholic whiskey alternative. Add ice and stir well until the drink is cold and balanced.

  3. 3

Serve. Strain the drink into a lowball glass over a large piece of ice.

  4. 4

Final accent. Squeeze the orange zest over the glass to release its oils, then drop it into the drink. Add two Amarena cherries or cherries in syrup.

Chef's tips

  • For more heat: add a little more spicy honey syrup.
  • For a richer flavour: use very strong black tea, chilled in advance.
  • For a beautiful presentation: serve the drink in a heavy lowball glass with one large clear ice cube.
  • For a dessert mood: add a splash of cherry syrup from the Amarena jar.
  • For citrus aroma: rub the orange zest around the rim of the glass before serving.
